I have been teaching Art and Design, and Photography for over twenty-five years, and throughout that time my passion for both the subject and my career has continued to grow. I enjoy exploring new methods, artists, and movements in Art, Craft, Design, and Photography, an enthusiasm echoed and encouraged for my students.

This website has been created to share and celebrate the creative work of my students. It also supports current students by helping them gain a clearer understanding of course specifications and requirements. As a result, the site includes a number of linked resources which, due to data protection, are password-protected and shared within lessons.

 Creative thinking and expression are incredibly important skills. Arts and culture now contribute £11.8 billion directly to the UK economy and experts believe that creativity will survive the automation revolution.
Film, gaming and TV are just a handful of industries
​that rely on artistic talent. It is a subject that breeds independence, confidence and an appreciation that any question may have multiple solutions. Art, Craft & Design is about exploring an idea in a creative way and learning
​how to express it in order to create an original outcome.

 "When you have a blank piece of paper in front of you, what do you have? Nothing! It's just a piece of paper. When you set out to make a drawing and the first mark is made, the paper changes from a simple object to a problem. It is a bit like designing and solving a puzzle simultaneously. From the first mark to the last thousands of decisions are made, literally thousands. From where an object should be placed within the composition to how dark a line should be, everything must be analysed. Additionally, with each additional mark the problem changes, sometimes slightly and others profoundly. Real art making requires a presence of mind, focus and determination that few people realise and an artwork is only complete when the final decision has been made."
